My dogs love plush dog toys and tennis ball dog toys.  I have always been a plush dog toyslittle apprehensive of plush dog toys though, because if they aren’t tough enough, my dogs rip them apart.  I am concerned about them swallowing the stuffing and the squeakers.  They don’t need problems with their digestive tract and I don’t need any unnecessary vet bills.

I have finally found the perfect combination of plush dog toys and tennis ball dog toys.  They are called Tennis Tails.  It is a tennis ball with a plush tail attached to it and my dogs just love chasing them and playing with them.

Dog Toys For The Christmas Puppy

Dog toys are very important in training a puppy not to chew on things itdog toys and puppy toys shouldn’t chew on.  If your puppy starts chewing on something he shouldn’t, redirect him to a dog toy.  He will eventually learn what he can and cannot chew on.

Before you bring your puppy home go through your house on his level and pick up anything laying around that he should not chew on.  You might also want to get a product made to deter your puppy from chewing on furniture and power cords.  If your puppy should get a hold of a shoe or something else it should not chew on, take it away from him and redirect him to a dog toy.  Then roll up a news paper and swat yourself a couple of times for leaving it in the puppies reach.

Look for chew toys that are made for puppies, durable enough for extended play, yet soft enough to be easy on their developing jaw muscles.

Dog Toys: The Simpler the Better

Parents often find that their small children are kept entertained by the least likely toys. For instance, the most expensive, cutting-edge piece of electronic equipment might pale in comparison to the box in which it was shipped. In a child’s eyes, imagination is king. That’s why an ordinary cardboard box can transform from a spaceship to a fort and back again in a matter of seconds.

Dogs seem to retain this sense of childlike wonder for their entire lives, at least when it comes to tennis balls. I’ve purchased dozens of toys for my golden retriever over the years, but none have gone over as well as a soggy old Dunlop. Actually, that’s not quite true. I found some tennis ball dog toys online featuring faux animal tails, and those are by far the most popular with Fido. He delights in hearing their distinctive squeak and never tires of chasing them down during a game of fetch.
