A Martingale Collar Works Great On My Puppy
Sorry I haven’t been posting a lot the last few weeks. Summer is such a busy time and with my new puppy being sick since I got him, I haven’t had much time to post.
I named my new puppy Chase because he loves to chase things. Things are going much better with Chase now. We have been to the vet 3 times in as many weeks and have finally found an antibiotic that works. I am pleased to say he is on the road to recovery as are my other two dogs who caught the respiratory illness from him.
I have been using a martingale collar on him and it works great. It is so much more humane than the traditional choke collar and he responds really well to it. He loves to run and thank goodness I have a big yard. I attach a ten foot drag line to his collar so I have a chance to catch him if he tries to leave the yard but he has been so good. After almost four weeks he has not even made an attempt to run away.
A Reflective Dog Collar Does Not Have To Be Blaze Orange Anymore
As a responsible pet owner, it is your job to keep your pets safe. Unfortunately, a dog’s behavior is not always predictable. A door opens and your dog unexpectedly bolts through it and takes off. Maybe you are enjoying an evening stroll with your dog and he sees a rabbit. Before you have time to brace yourself, your dog takes off after the rabbit and jerks the leash right out of your hand.
A reflective dog collar will not only give you and your dog higher visibility on walks, it will also help protect your dog in unexpected situations when he gets loose. Some reflective dog collars also glow in the dark after minimal exposure to light. This will be an asset in the event that your dog escapes in the dark. It will make finding him much easier and if he should run out in traffic, the higher visibility could save his life. The best part of the new reflective dog collars is that they no longer have to be blaze orange. They come in many different colors.
Leather Dog Collars-Classic And Trendy?
It seems like an oxymoron to call something classic and trendy all in the same sentence but the classic leather dog collar seems to fall into both categories. Way back when dogs were first becoming domesticated, leather was one of the first materials ever used to make a dog collar. It is hard to believe that a style that has been in existence for centuries is still very popular and stylish today.
Known for their durability and strength, leather collars were mainly used for large dogs. These classic but trendy dog collars are now made for all sizes of dogs.
The rolled leather dog collar is often used for long haired dogs. They are known to greatly reduce the matting of fur in the collar area. This means added comfort for the dog.
Leather Dog Collars-A Classic Style For Any Dog
Leather dog collars offer a rich, classic look to any dog, from the smallest to the largest. Many companies offer leather collars but they are not all made the same. When searching for the right leather dog collar, the least expensive one may not necessarily be the best choice for your dog.
A well crafted leather collar will have smooth, darkened edges. This will help prevent matting, chaffing and irritation on the collar area. For dogs with long fur, a rolled leather dog collar could be a wise choice. Rolled leather dog collars cause the least amount of matting in the collar area.
A well made leather collar will be comfortable and durable and last for years.
Reflective Dog Collars-The Practical Choice
When choosing a dog collar for your pet, consider a reflective dog collar. Reflective dog collars are no longer limited to blaze orange. They come in many different colors and provide an inexpensive way for the pet owner to provide an added level of protection for their four legged family member. Some reflective collars even have an added glow-in-the-dark feature. This means that after the collar has been exposed to a minimal amount of light, it will not only reflect light, it will glow in the dark.
A reflective dog collar, along with a reflective leash are great for added visibility when walking in low light situations adding a measure of safety for both you and your dog. The glow-in-the-dark feature will make keeping an eye on your dog in the dark much easier.
What Collar Does Your Dog Wear In Multiple Dog Situations
With the busy lifestyles that people have today, many have turned to doggie day care as an alternative to leaving their dog’s at home for hours on end. It is a great way to socialize your dog and you do not have to worry about him being at home alone on those long work days. It is a win/win situation for many dog owners. The dog has the opportunity to run and play with other dogs and the owner does not have to worry about rushing home in the middle of the day to let the dog out.
A special collar was designed specifically for settings that put your pet in a situation with multiple dogs. It is intended for doggie daycare or dog parks or even the pet owner that owns more than one dog. The PlaySafe Daycare Safety Collar provides both the ability to instantly restrain and control the dog as well as an emergency safety release.
Quick-release buckles often jam with increased tension. The PlaySafe Daycare Safety Collar is a Velcro dog collar that allows instant release if dogs become entangled, even if the collar has twisted tightly around the neck. The nice thing about it is that it can be opened from either side.
A Reflective Dog Collar Helps Keep My Dog Safe
One of my dogs likes to shoot out the door every time someone enters or exits the house. During the day it is not to much of a problem. I can see her and for the most part she comes when she is called. She is a black dog and at night if she scoots out I have trouble seeing her. If it happens to be one of those times when she does not feel like coming when I call her, I worry that she will go out in the road.
I finally invested in a reflective dog collar that glows in the dark after it has been exposed to a minimal amount of light. It serves two purposes for me. I can see her in the dark without actually aiming a flashlight at her. This makes it easier for me to find her and if she should happen to run in the road before I can round her up, she has a much better chance of being seen by oncoming traffic. This reduces some of the risk of her getting hit by a car.
Reflective dog collars are an inexpensive way to help keep my dog safe.
Reflective Dog Collars-An Inexpensive Safety Measure
No matter how well trained your dog is or how responsible you are as a pet owner, dogs will be dogs. It could be a rabbit running through the yard that sparks your dog’s interest and he takes off after it. Maybe a child doesn’t close the door tight when entering the house and your dog noses his way through it to make his great escape. Anyone of a number of different scenarios can have your dog running loose and in harm’s way.
A simple precaution that can aid in keeping your dog safe in these situations is a reflective dog collar. Reflective dog collars add visibility to dogs, making it easier for drivers to see them before it is to late. Some reflective dog collars even come with an added feature. They glow in the dark with minimal exposure to light. This is an especially nice feature that will make it easier for you to spot your dog in the dark if he has escaped.
A Rolled Leather Dog Collar-Comfort and Fashion
The fur around the collar area on my Australian Shepherd was always matted from her collar. She hates being brushed especially when it comes to getting the mats out and doesn’t tolerate being brushed for more than a few minutes at a time. I finally broke down and bought a good quality rolled leather dog collar for her.
Although rolled leather collars are a little more expensive than a traditional collar, it was well worth the investment for me. The new leather collar made a huge difference. The reduction in matting was incredible and the classic look of leather looks good on any dog. Now it only takes me a couple of minutes a day to brush my dog and I don’t have to fight with all the mats. That makes me and my dog happy. It is fashion and comfort all rolled into one.
Reflective Dog Collar For Your Dog’s Safety
Even the most responsible pet owners can lose control of their dogs sometimes. Maybe a child doe not close the door tight when he comes in and the dog scoots out and makes his escape. Perhaps you are walking your dog and your dog spots a rabbit and before you can respond with a tighter grip your dog takes off, yanking the leash right out of your hand. There are endless scenarios that could result in an otherwise well behaved dog taking off with out you.
For a minimal investment you could provide an added degree of safety for your pet. A reflective dog collar or a reflective dog harness that glows in the dark after being exposed to light will provide more visibility for your dog. This little safety measure that you can take will make it easier to find your dog in the dark and will give drivers a little more braking time in the dark or in overcast weather. It will also give you and your dog more visibility if you choose to walk your dag at night or in the early morning hours.
